Wade Naziri, md
Dr. Naziri received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Catholic University of America and his Medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his General Surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. He went to The University of Dundee School of Medicine in Scotland for Fellowship training in Laparoscopic Surgery under one of the foremost leaders in the field, Professor Alfred Cushieri. He also spent three years as the Price Fellow in General Surgical Research with Dr. Hiram C. Polk, Jr. at the University of Louisville. His areas of expertise and interest include Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery including Bariatric surgery (Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Conversions), gallbladder surgery, anti-reflux surgery, hernia repair, and colon surgery.
William h. Chapman, md
Dr. Chapman received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. He was awarded a health profession scholarship from the United States Army and did his surgical training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He then continued his military service as an attending surgeon at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He helped start the Minimally Invasive Bariatric Fellowship at the Brody School of Medicine and then proceeded to direct that training program from 2008 to 2015. Dr. Chapman helped create the Vidant Minimally invasive center of excellence that evolved into the Bariatric Center of Excellence. He was the director of minimally invasive and Bariatric surgery for Vidant from 2005-2015. His surgical interests include bariatric/metabolic surgery (Gastric bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy), revision bariatric surgery, gastroesophageal reflux surgery, repairs of hiatal hernias, routine and complex hernia surgery, colon and rectal surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, surgery for disorders of the spleen and adrenal, surgery for esophageal disorders, and gallbladder surgery.
Julie johhanes, pa-c, bariatric coordinator
Julie Johannes, PA-C is the Bariatric Coordinator for our surgical weight loss program. After graduating from Wingate University in 1989, Julie received her Master’s Degree in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy. She then served as Assistant Athletic Trainer for Davidson College for two years prior to becoming the Head Athletic Trainer and a faculty member at the University of Virginia-Wise.
Five years later, she went to work for a physical therapy clinic where she was Coordinator of Sports Medicine for Gaston County, NC Schools. In 1998, she graduated from the Trevecca Nazarene University Physician Assistant Program in Nashville, TN. She has worked in Internal Medicine for one year after PA school and in Orthopedics for the next 11 years. Since April 2010, she has been specializing in Bariatrics. As a Physician Assistant, Bariatric Coordinator, and a Bariatric patient we feel she can provide a unique point of view and expertise to the field of Bariatric surgery. Julie is available for individual supervised diet and exercise weight loss programs, which may be required by your insurance.
